Statement

My abstracts have evolved from decades of exploring elements of design. Colors reacting with others will over time create schemes that become automatic with my emotional state when painting. This is also a format with all the other elements of design such as shape, etc.

My present state of self from all external and internal forces at said moment is expressed on the canvas. Each day when work begins, I come to my canvas with new experiences deriving themselves from reading, current events, or previous activity and be assured new measures will take precedence over the day before.

I refer to my non-objective paintings as crossword puzzles. It takes months to culminate and refine the emotions and marks placed on canvas for the birth of one of my non-objective abstract paintings.

My other paintings may refer specifically to current events. I call these my theme puzzles. For example, I utilize ancient Mayan subjects and glyphs to make political statements of current issues. Also, I depicted the devastation of Gaza City, 2014 war. As events press on, I continue to tap into and express my personal relationship with global events and personal opinions.
